Stephen P. Shea, Ph.D.
Stephen Shea is an alternative energy industry veteran with more than 40 years experience in all aspects of device design and manufacturing covering the entire value-chain, with a strong focus on photovoltaics (PV) and a career-long interest in facilitating the movement of new technology from the lab to mass production.
Most recently he was VP of Manufacturing Engineering with Beamreach Solar and before that, VP and Chief Engineering Officer of Suniva for over eight years.
Prior to Suniva he spent four years as an industry consultant, including six months as Visiting Senior Solar Energy Technologist at Xerox PARC.
Earlier he worked for twenty years at Solarex/BP Solar in various roles in R&D, Engineering and Technology management. Dr. Shea is the author of over twenty publications and several patents in the field of PV.
He began his career doing thin film PV research at the University of Delaware/Institute of Energy Conversion where he received a Ph.D. in Applied Science (EE) and an M.E.E. He also holds both a B.S. and a B.A. from Swarthmore College.
